From the Stars - for percussion ensemble

Last Thrusday, October 28th, the NYU Percussion Ensemble with Jonathan Haas and Sean Statser as a conductors did a great job premiering my new piece From The Stars. This is a piece written in the middle of the composition of a big piece for Wind Orchestra inspired in the Hubble telescope, that will be premiered next february in Barcelona.In this piece I also explored a msuic inspired in the space and in the stars. The space is a place where no sound can be transmitted but our tradition makes us to imagine it full of aural colors. The begining of this piece is quite eerie and quiet, with tremolos in the percussion combined with sounds produced by cello bows playing percussion instruments. Then a louder and rythmically driven part comes, combined with a kind of star explosions.
